De thermische klasse bepaalt de maximumtemperatuur waarbij een elektrische isolator een bepaalde thermische stabiliteit behoudt met betrekking tot veroudering. Het is dus in zekere zin de\u00a0<\/span>maximale gebruikstemperatuur<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0aanbevolen voor een optimale levensduur van de isolatie.<\/span><\/p>

De thermische klasse van een isolator wordt gedefinieerd door een letter volgens de norm IEC 60085:<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Naast de IEC 60085-norm zijn er andere normen voor de classificatie van isolatiematerialen die kunnen worden uitgegeven door certificeringsinstanties. Op dit gebied is UL-certificering een van de meest prestigieuze merken van productconformiteit en een wereldwijd erkend veiligheidsmerk, uitgegeven door Underwriters Laboratories\u00ae. Zo krijgt een UL-gecertificeerde elektrische isolator een\u00a0\"UL-kaart\" die in zekere zin het conformiteitspaspoort van de isolator is<\/strong>\u00a0.<\/p>

Wat betreft de thermische eigenschappen van het materiaal geeft de UL-kaart verschillende aanwijzingen:<\/p>

  • vlambestendigheid - UL94, getest volgens de Europese norm IEC 60695-11-10 ;<\/li>
  • 3 soorten RTI (Relatieve Thermische Index), die overeenkomen met de\u00a0maximale bedrijfstemperatuur van<\/strong>\u00a0een materiaal onder kritieke omstandigheden.<\/li><\/ul>

    Zeggen dat een isolatiemateriaal bestand is tegen 130\u00b0C RTI betekent dus dat het product onder elektrische of mechanische spanning na 60.000 uur ten minste 60% van zijn oorspronkelijke eigenschappen heeft behouden.<\/p>

    Waarschuwing<\/strong>\u00a0Het is belangrijk om te onthouden dat de thermische klassewaarden niet altijd gelijkwaardig zijn tussen IEC 60085 en UL RTI's.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    1. Di\u00eblektrische eigenschappen<\/strong><\/h3>

    Isolatiematerialen moeten natuurlijk di\u00eblektrische eigenschappen hebben waardoor apparatuur effectief kan worden beschermd. In sommige gevallen is het echter essentieel dat de gekozen elektrische isolatie bestand is tegen hoge temperaturen. De beste di\u00eblektrische prestatie wordt daarom niet noodzakelijkerwijs nagestreefd en er moeten compromissen worden gevonden, met name op het gebied van mechanische sterkte.     2. De gebruikstemperatuur<\/strong><\/h3>

    De keuze van een isolatiemateriaal hangt nauw samen met de thermische omstandigheden waaraan het tijdens zijn levensduur zal worden blootgesteld. Een isolator kan namelijk enerzijds degraderen onder invloed van warmte en anderzijds varieert zijn di\u00eblektrische sterkte met de temperatuur. Daarom moet bij de keuze van de isolatie rekening worden gehouden met de thermische klasse van de apparatuur.<\/p>

    3. Het economische criterium<\/strong><\/h3>

    Het economische aspect is een belangrijk criterium om rekening mee te houden bij het kiezen van een isolator, omdat de verschillen in kosten tussen twee materialen groot kunnen zijn. De kosten van een hoogwaardige isolator kunnen de betrouwbaarheid van de ge\u00efsoleerde apparatuur ten goede komen en kunnen zo aanzienlijke voordelen opleveren voor andere stations die deel uitmaken van het systeem.<\/p>

    4. Kies erkende materialen<\/strong><\/h3>

    Onthoud dat niet alle materialen zijn gelijk<\/strong> zelfs als hun chemische samenstelling a priori identiek is.     De polyesters alleen al kunnen temperaturen aan tot 160\u00b0C of zelfs meer, afhankelijk van de duur van de blootstelling. De normen kondigen 130\u00b0C aan voor de IEC en 105\u00b0C voor de UL. PET-polyester presteert bijvoorbeeld goed tot 105\u00b0C en PEN kan nog steeds worden gebruikt bij 160\u00b0C.<\/span><\/p>

    2. Polyethyleen<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>

    Polyethyleen is een goede isolator, maar kan niet worden gebruikt boven 60\u00b0C\/RTI UL continu, of 130\u00b0C\/IEC.<\/span><\/p>

    3. Polyimide<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>

    Polyimide is het meest effici\u00ebnte polymeer als je op zoek bent naar goede elektrische isolatie bij hoge temperaturen, omdat het bestand is tegen meer dan 400\u00b0C gedurende enkele uren. Het bekendste merk polyimide is Kapton, verkrijgbaar in de vorm van lijm of filmrollen.<\/span><\/p>

    4. Stijve of flexibele materialen<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>

    Om de thermische prestaties te verbeteren, is het ook mogelijk om de voordelen van verschillende materialen te combineren. Zo bestaat de Nokamex Duplex uit een assemblage van twee materialen:<\/span><\/p>

    • Een Kapton polyimide film, voor temperatuurbestendigheid en isolatie;<\/span><\/li>
    • Een Nomex aramide papier voor mechanische sterkte;<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

      Het verkregen materiaal is dus een uitstekende isolator, bruikbaar bij hoge temperaturen en met een hoge mechanische weerstand.<\/span><\/p>

      Het vermogen van een elektrische isolator om hitte te weerstaan, hangt af van verschillende factoren zoals de chemie van het materiaal. Zo hebben polyimiden een temperatuurbestendigheid tot 400\u00b0C bij thermische piek, terwijl polyethyleen niet bestand is tegen grote hitte.
