ADDEV Materials

Interview with Mathieu Masmont, V.I.E Project Manager (Mexico)

ADDEV Materials :

Mathieu, you are currently doing a V.I.E in ADDEV Materials as a Project Manager in Mexico. Tell us more about your educational background and your experiences.

Mathieu Masmont :

My background is a little bit different from other profiles within ADDEV Materials, I come from the Science Po school, with a master 2 in  » International Relations and International Project Management  » and another in  » International Security  » with a real specialization on Central and Latin America.

After an internship in the Ministry of the Armed Forces in the bilateral cooperation office France/Latin America, I crossed the Atlantic to continue with a second internship in the private sector in Mexico as Project Management and Customer Relations for a security company. I was then hired as a Project Manager.

ADDEV Materials :

Why did you want to do a V.I.E?

Mathieu Masmont :

The V.I.E. is clearly the international option desired by most newcomers to the job market but also for those seeking to move on in their career. It allows an international experience with often very formative and responsible positions. When I had this great opportunity, I did not hesitate! I started a V.I.E. as Project Manager for ADDEV MATERIALS in Mexico in order to study what could be the business potential to develop in this country for the company, in particular via the establishments already present in North America, and how to do it.

ADDEV Materials :

What convinced you to work at ADDEV Materials?

Mathieu Masmont :

ADDEV Materials is a company that offers international professional opportunities and works with its employees over the long term. ADDEV Materials develops a coherent international strategy, seeking to develop a real added value on its solutions. It encourages intrapreneurship and gives full confidence to its employees. It is a patrimonial company within which the possibility of exchanging directly with the leaders is always possible, it is a real advantage.

ADDEV Materials :

How was your knowledge of the country a plus?

Mathieu Masmont :

I didn’t have the technical background of an engineer for this type of position, but I already had more than two years of experience in Mexico, so I spoke the language, I knew the V.I.E. mode, the way of working, the understanding of the Mexican mentality. In other words, I could be autonomous quickly, especially in a country where the adaptation time can be quite long.

ADDEV Materials :

What do you remember as positive points? Difficulties?

Mathieu Masmont :

I had a lot of responsibilities and I was able to carry out my missions in complete autonomy. It wasn’t always easy: I was alone on site, my closest managers being in the United States.

I was also confronted with the demands and reality of the market. I had to meet many people and make many contacts to move forward.

I clearly don’t regret it: this first ADDEV MATERIALS adventure in Mexico was a real professional enrichment, and will be able to continue!
