Polymer mastic: the sealing and bonding solution

What is a polymer sealant?

Le polymer masticalso known as MS polymer putty or hybrid sealantis a single-component adhesive solution based on silane-modified polymers (SM)which combines the advantages of silicone sealant and polyurethane sealant.
It hardens by reacting with the humidity in the air to form a elastic, durable, multi-substrate sealwithout shrinkage or bubbles.

It's one of the most versatile products on the market today, capable of providing both a bonding and sealing functionin extreme conditions. It is particularly popular in the construction, industry, transport, energy, maintenance, etc. and mobility.

Advantages of polymer sealant

Le polymer mastic offers unrivalled versatilitycombined with a simplified implementation and high technical performance :

  • Excellent adhesion without primer on most materials: concrete, glass, wood, aluminium, steel, PVC, composites, etc.
  • Durable elasticity (up to 25 % of movement) without cracking or shrinking
  • Can be used indoors and outdoorseven on damp surfaces
  • Isocyanate-free, solvent-free, silicone-free : safe application + regulatory compliance
  • Paintable after dryingcompatible with many water-based paints
  • Very low VOC emissions EC1 Plus or A+ certified, depending on the product
  • UV, weather, thermal shock and vibration resistance
  • Good mechanical strength (shearing, peeling, tearing)

This is the ideal solution for complex sites, sensitive materials or standardised environments.

Building and finishing sector

  • Watertightness and bonding of façade joints, joinery, cladding, etc.
  • Gluing skirting boards, thresholds, partitions and decorative elements
  • Making joints between different materials (wood + aluminium, concrete + PVC...)
  • Sanitary seal in kitchens and wet areas (fungicide versions available)

General industry and maintenance

  • Assembly of parts or panels in industrial environments
  • Sealing of ducts, conduits, cabinets and boxes
  • Repair or rapid maintenance of equipment exposed to mechanical or chemical attack

Automotive, rail, marine and transport

  • Structural sealing of body panels
  • Flexible bonding of glazing, bodywork components and accessories
  • Non-staining polymer mastic for paints, coatings or fragile surfaces
  • Stable behaviour to vibrations, projections and differential expansion

Specific applications and sensitive environments

  • HQE-rated premises, medical or food zones
  • Working near children, animals or in occupied areas
  • Industrial sites subject to stricter HSE requirements

Standard multi-purpose polymer sealant

  • Versatile for bonding + sealing
  • Very good adhesion without primer
  • Paintable, solvent-free, odourless

Polymer facade sealant or expansion joint

  • UV, moisture and ageing resistance
  • Conformability EN15651-1 (front), EN15651-4 (floors)
  • Long-lasting elasticity and excellent durability

Transparent polymer putty

  • Discreet, aesthetic application
  • Long-lasting transparency after drying
  • Ideal for glazing, visible assemblies or decorative elements

Special sanitary polymer mastic

  • Fungicide formulation (anti-mould)
  • Resistant to standing moisture and detergents
  • Suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and wet areas

Flame-retardant polymer mastic

  • Compliance with standards EN45545, UL94, FAR 25
  • Low flame spread, low smoke development
  • Recommended for transport, tunnels and public buildings

FAQ - Polymer putty

It's a putty single-component based on silane-modified (SM) polymers, which combines sealing and bondingwith a multi-substrate adhesiona lasting elasticity and a formulation solvent- and isocyanate-free.

Le polymer mastic is isocyanate-free, healthier to use, odourlesswith improved paint compatibility. It offers better stability over time (no withdrawal) and is more environmentally friendly.

Yes. The majority of polymer sealants can be painted after hardeningThe paint can be applied with water-based or acrylic paints. It is advisable to carry out a test beforehand, depending on the paint used.

Yes. It's very resistant to UV, weather, humidity, freeze/thawand can even be applied to slightly damp surfaceThis makes it an excellent choice for outdoor work.

Yes, it adheres to most surfaces without primers: concrete, metal, wood, aluminium, PVC, plastic, glass, ceramics... including on dissimilar materials.
