Threadlocker: Secure your threaded assemblies

What is a thread brake?

Le thread lock is a anaerobic adhesive designed for locking, sealing and securing threaded connections (screws, bolts, nuts) by preventing them from loosening under the effect of vibration, shock or thermal expansion.

It is applied directly to the threads. Once the part is assembled, it hardens in the absence of air, ensuring a perfect bond. reliable locking and a complete sealeven in the presence of fluids (oil, gas, water).

There are various demounting forces (low, medium, high), coloursand formulations depending on the industrial or mechanical use required.

Advantages of the thread locker

It offers numerous technical and economic benefits:

  • Prevents loosening fasteners, even when subjected to intense vibration.
  • Eliminates the need for lock washers, Nylstop nuts or mechanical systems.
  • Seals threads against fluid and gas leaks.
  • Protects against corrosion and seizure.
  • Uniform stress distribution over the entire thread.
  • Removable or permanent versionsdepending on the force selected.
  • Simple, clean applicationin drop, brush or pen form.

Industrial and mechanical maintenance

  • Used for securing critical assemblies : pump screws, motors, hydraulic fittings, machine tools, fans, compressors.
  • Prevents loosening due to vibration.

Cars, motorbikes and bicycles

  • It is essential for fixing engine bolts, callipers, transmission bolts or suspension componentsThey do not loosen with time or temperature variations.

Aerospace and rail

  • Ensures absolute locking of critical fasteners subjected to shocks or high pressures, with versions aeronautical certified.

Assembly of sensitive parts

  • Some versions of the low resistance (orange, blue) enable easy to dismantleIt is used in electronics, precision equipment and routine maintenance.

Brake Net Blue - Medium resistance

Le blue thread brake (e.g. Loctite 243) is the most versatile.

  • Can be dismantled using hand tools.
  • Resistant to vibration, oil and temperatures up to 150°C.
  • Ideal for standard screws, routine maintenance and combustion engines.

Filet Rouge brake - High resistance

Le red thread brake (e.g. Loctite 270) is permanent.

  • Very difficult to dismantle without heating.
  • Withstands extreme environments.
  • Perfect for safety screws, cylinder head studs and critical fasteners.

Brake Filet Orange - Intermediate resistance

Le orange thread lock is designed for mounting can be dismantled without heatingbut more solid than blue.

  • Ideal for elements subject to moderate vibration requiring regular maintenance (furniture, cycles, electronic systems).

Green net brake - Capillarity (post-assembly)

Le green thread brake (e.g. Loctite 290) is fluid and penetrates by capillary action.

  • Used on already screwed assemblies.
  • Very high strength, suitable for hard-to-reach screws or post-processing.

FAQ - Net brake

What is a thread brake?

  • The thread brake is a anaerobic adhesive which hardens once applied on a thread and mounted.
  • He prevents loosening of screws and boltsIt is vibration-resistant, watertight and protects against corrosion.
  • Blue : can be dismantled with tools (medium resistance)

  • Red permanent, difficult to dismantle (high resistance)

  • Orange between blue and red, removable without heating

  • Green : very fluid, for post-assembly by capillary action

  • Yes, but only by heating the thread to approx. 250 °C.
  • The red thread brake is designed for permanent assembliesIt cannot be dismantled using conventional cold hand tools.
  • Yes, with the green thread brake (capillary action), which seeps into the threads already fitted.
  • It is ideal for hard-to-reach screws or post-assembly work.
  • Both are brands of global benchmark. Loctite is widely used in the mechanical engineering and automotive industries.
  • ThreeBond is recognised for its specific solutions in electronics, high-precision motors and OEM applications.
  • The dry thread brake in 10 to 20 minutes for initial setting. Full hardening (maximum strength) is generally achieved after 24 hours at room temperature.
