Two-component polyurethane adhesive: flexible, robust and extremely durable

What is a two-component polyurethane adhesive?

La two-component polyurethane adhesive is a high-performance reactive adhesive composed of a polyurethane prepolymer and a specific hardener. Mixing these two components triggers a exothermic chemical reactionwhich creates a flexible, strong and durable bonding.

Renowned for its flexibilityhis ability to absorb vibrations and its resistance to extreme conditionsThis technology is used for multi-material assemblies in the sectors automotive, aerospace, construction, rail or industrial. This is one of the most balanced solutions between mechanical performance, elasticity and durability.

Advantages of two-component polyurethane adhesive

This type of structural adhesive offers many advantages, both in terms of performance and applicability:

  • High elasticity ideal for materials subject to expansion, shock or vibration.
  • Multi-substrate bonding metal, plastic, composite, wood, concrete...
  • Excellent moisture, weather and UV resistance.
  • Good thermal resistance Temperature range: -40°C to +100/120°C depending on formulation.
  • Sustainable membership without shrinkage or cracking.
  • Damping behaviour in mechanical environments.
  • Adjustable working time depending on the version (fast or standard).
  • Manual or automated applicationcompatible with production lines.

Structural assembly in industry

  • Gluing sandwich panels, sheet metal and technical parts.
  • Assembly equipment subjected to shocks or thermal cycles.
  • Replacement of screw fittings to make them lighter and more attractive.

Automotive and special vehicles

  • Fixing bumpers, bonnets, wings and interior reinforcements.
  • Metal-plastic or composite bonding, even on slightly contaminated surfaces.
  • Reduced noise and vibration thanks to the elasticity of the joint.

Construction and building envelope

  • Gluing aluminium joinery, cladding and insulation panels.
  • Assembly of façade materials subject to differential deformation.
  • Long-lasting resistance to UV, humidity and freeze/thaw.

Aeronautics, rail and marine

  • Structural bonding in cabins or technical areas.
  • Fixing panels and components subject to extreme environments.
  • Resistant to salt spray, vibrations and pressure variations.

FAQ - Two-component polyurethane adhesive

It is a structural adhesive composed of a prepolymer and a hardener, which hardens by chemical reaction. It offers high flexibility, excellent mechanical strengthIt also adapts to demanding environments (vibration, humidity, shock, etc.).

La epoxy glue is more rigid and thermally resistant. The polyurethane glue is more flexiblewhich is better suited to dynamic stresses (vibrations, expansion), and ideal for multi-material assemblies subjected to movement.

It adheres to a wide range of materials: aluminium, steel, plastic, wood, glass, composites, concrete. It is highly effective even on surfaces that are slightly irregular or subject to deformation.

Yes. It offers very good moisture resistanceto bad weatherto light chemical agents and UV rayswhich makes it an excellent choice for outdoor applications or marine.

It varies according to the formulation. Some products can be handled after 10 to 30 minutesand reach their final strength after 24 hours. Fast versions are available for urgent or automated applications.

Absolutely. Thanks to its flexibility and its damping behaviourtwo-component polyurethane adhesive is perfectly suited to assemblies subject to vibrationrepeated shocks or thermal cycles.

Yes. Most formulations are compatible with dosing/mixing equipment for series application, with precise volume control and reduced losses.
