Kapton tapes are high-tech products with very impressive physical (mechanical, thermal, electrical) and chemical properties. Kapton adhesive tapes are coated with a thermosetting acrylic or silicone adhesive which gives the tapes particularly high strength and resistance.
The properties of the Kapton adhesive tapes and of the polyester adhesive tapes are identical at room temperature. However, variations in temperature have less of an effect on the properties of Kapton film compared with polyester film. Indeed, polyimide film does not soften at elevated temperatures, thus the film provides an excellent non-stick surface.
